In case you missed it this week, the U.S. Postal Service announced on Wednesday that it plans to end Saturday mail delivery in August.
With a loss of almost $16 billion last year, they’re in desperate need of saving the approximately $2 billion this change would bring.
BUT…they say that although their research shows that 70% of Americans support this cost cutting measure, Congress continues to block the end of Saturday mail delivery. So it’s going to be interesting to see what happens this summer.
Saturday mail delivery would still occur to zip code 89006, by the way. Oh! Fun fact: did you know that the post office boxes up at the U.S. post office have a zip code of 89006, as opposed to the other zip codes in Boulder City being 89005?
I know, we are a fountain of useful knowledge to be sure!
