Caregivers Bring Comfort to Clients, Families

One thing Boulder City is known for is caring. Whether it’s a volunteer event, a neighbor in a time of need, or animals who need comforting, Boulder City residents are there with open arms. That is precisely the attitude needed when caring for others with medical need. That’s where private caregivers can be such an important part of the overall care management team.

Amy Heard Bramblett is one such private caregiver. She has been doing this work for a very long time and has networked with a number of other local caregivers to provide services to our community. Amy and her associates work with clients and their families to establish their needs and wants. Some of the many responsibilities they take on include:

  • Bathing and hygiene
  • Communication with medical providers as to care
  • Dressing in weather appropriate clothing
  • Fall prevention
  • Feeding
  • Getting mail
  • Laundry
  • Light housekeeping
  • Meal preparation
  • Medication management
  • Monitoring vital signs and overall health
  • Picking up prescriptions and medical items
  • Repositioning clients to prevent bedsores
  • Shopping
  • Taking clients to medical appointments
  • Taking clients to the Senior Center or other socialization
  • Taking clients shopping or to other appointments
  • Taking out trash
  • Toileting and incontinence management
  • Using a Hoyer lift for moving clients

Amy believes in working closely with the client and their families. To that end, she and the other caregivers create an environment of safety and calm. They keep detailed records in a medical dossier that are kept on site for family and medical staff to review. They also send pictures and updates to the client’s family for peace of mind.

The cost for this incredible care is just $30/hour with a 3-hour minimum. This is an excellent opportunity for a primary caregiver, like a spouse or other adult, to have some respite care they can rely on. The goal is to provide dignity, love, and compassion from the moment they meet their new client, up through hospice, if needed.

The caregiver network is comprised of approximately 15 men and women ages 26 to 75. They include Amy, along with Alaina, Angie, Becky, Deanna, Debbie, Devon, Jasmine, Kayla, Larosha, Maggie, and Sherry, to name a few. They all come highly recommended by Jennifer Hedland, the social worker at Boulder City Hospital.

You can meet some of these wonderful people at the upcoming Boulder City Hospital Resource Fair on Wednesday, September 16 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at Boulder City Library (701 Adams Boulevard).

In the meantime, you can contact Amy via telephone or text at (702) 339-0504 to meet with a caregiver and make a caregiving plan. Consider this opportunity for yourself or someone you love.
