Catch up with Holly Wittwer of Events with Holly

Event planning is a fast-paced and rewarding career that requires a unique blend of creativity, organization, and adaptability. We recently spoke with Holly Wittwer, a popular local event planner, and we dove into the experiences and insights of a seasoned pro who has managed a variety of events, from weddings to corporate gatherings and more.
The inspiration to pursue a career in event planning came from a long line of event planners. Holly’s mother was always planning events for their large family. Holly started with her own event planning path with her High School Senior Prom. After that, she knew this was the career that would bring her years of success and joy. When she moved to Boulder City 6 years ago, she saw that there was a need for small businesses to get assistance with their events, and Events with Holly was officially established. Her motto is: “We handle the stress, you enjoy the fest!”
Holly loves to be able to take the stress out of events for other people. She knows that most people do not naturally enjoy event planning. Because of that, she thrives in the industry knowing that she can take the stress off of the clients shoulders and make an enjoyable and meaningful experience for them.
Holly’s experience spans a wide range of events, including weddings, festivals, conventions, corporate events, and staff appreciation parties. She is currently working on the Dam Dog Festival, Nevada Homeschool Convention, Flow Fest Yoga Festival, and of course, Holiday Parties! Each type of event presents its own unique challenges and rewards, and she flourishes on the diversity of experiences.
She thrives on last-minute pressure and has learned to roll with changes as they come. Her approach is to work with what’s available and adapt quickly. This ability to stay calm and flexible under pressure is crucial in the event planning industry.
She believes in being thrifty and resourceful. She often rents or borrows items, uses Facebook Marketplace to find affordable yet nice-looking items, and always looks for ways to save money without compromising on quality. This approach helps her manage costs effectively while still delivering beautiful and memorable events.
Holly likes to focus on timeless elements rather than chasing trends. However, she believes it is ultimately all about what the customer wants and she will make any dream a reality. She takes detailed notes during and after each event to continuously improve and make sure the clients needs are being met. The success of an event is measured by the satisfaction of the clients and attendees. When the customer and attendees are happy, she is happy!
She prefers working with local vendors and small businesses. Supporting up-and-coming entrepreneurs is a passion of hers, and she finds joy in helping newcomers to the industry thrive. Holly always chooses to work with Boulder City local businesses. Some of her favorite locals to work with are: Bake Me Happy, specializing not only in delicious, but beautifully hand crafted sweet treats, Village Floral House for all of her Floral Arrangement needs, Twist and Shout as her go-to DJ and Good Job Graphics for her printing needs.
She often involves teens as extra hands, teaching them leadership skills and how to be effective team members. She has a go-to crew of motivated and hard working helpers.
In a small town, word of mouth and referrals are pertinent to her marketing strategy, complemented by a strong social media presence and a professional website. Building a reputation for reliability and excellence helps attract new clients.
Time management is key when juggling multiple events. Running a business while raising a family requires careful planning and flexibility. Balancing work with her personal life can be challenging, but being at the event and seeing everything come together makes it all worthwhile.
Outside of event planning, she enjoys spending time with her family. Holly, her husband, and their three boys love outdoor activities like camping, fishing, hiking, bike riding, and snowboarding. They also enjoy reading together, playing board games, and doing yardwork.
Holly is currently looking for an Event Planning Apprentice. She says to reach out if you are interested in learning about the business. There is a lot of fun to be had!
