So it’s a Yes for chickens in residential neighborhoods after last week’s City Council meeting.
Despite a recommendation that the number of chickens be reduced to 6 and the distance from the property line be increased to more than 5 feet…the motion was made (and subsequently passed) to approve the original 10 chickens per property with a 5-foot distance from the property line.
A permit will be required so that future chicken keepers can be made aware of the codes, but there will be no fees associated with it. The permit will be very simple, primarily consisting of name, address, contact info, and a drawing of where your coop will be located on the property.
So there you have it…Chickengate has now officially come to an end!
