Little Lambs of Christ Lutheran Church held its first annual family literature night, February 24, 2023. This was such a special night as it kicked off the Read Across America Week and Imagination Library’s Reading to Z program in Boulder City.
The evening started with children wearing their favorite character costume and/or pajamas. They visited with one another over pizza (by the way, cheese pizza is their favorite). When they finished their pizza, they rotated through three of their classrooms, listening to books read by, Crystal Guffey and Kileiigh Guffey, two of the Little Lambs teachers, Emily Wagner, a special education teacher from Mitchell Elementary and by Jayne, a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Books that were read were – Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle, A Bad Case of the Strips by David Shannon, Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons and See You Later, Alligator by Sally Hopgood. After story time, each room hosted a special craft
related to the story that was read. – a bear headband, a strip face mask and a paper bag puppet.
They ended their evening with cookies and cupcakes and Mrs. Jessica Stetson shared about the Reading to Z program that was created in memory of the Stetson’s son, Zechariah. Reading to Z is Boulder City’s program that is part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Through this program, children 5 years old and under, receive a book each month, at no cost.
