Christian Center to Add Kindergarten Class in Fall 2025

Many families are currently looking for alternatives to the public school system for the education of their children. Boulder City is fortunate that in addition to public schools, there are other alternatives available. One new option will be available this fall. The Christian Center has announced that they will be offering Kindergarten at their location, 571 Adams Boulevard, beginning August 11, 2025. Registration begins immediately.
The instructor for the students is Connie Ybarra, who brings her years of experience and education in child development to the program. They will be providing a play-based, child-centered curriculum that will cover all of the regular education subjects, in addition to faith-based activities to reaffirm and supplement the basic concepts taught in class. This half-day program will be from 8:00AM to 12:00PM and after school care is available at Christian Center Daycare. Ms Ybarra spoke at length about the importance of providing a positive first experience at school for students, as it can color a student's academic career. Getting started off on a positive note with a motivated teacher, supportive staff, and eager fellow students is an ideal environment for learning.
In speaking with Pastor Deborah Downs, they intend to keep the class small with a maximum of ten students. This will give Ms Ybarra more one-on-one time with her students and foster strong relationships among the kindergartners. Parents of the students will be encouraged to be involved in their child's education and they plan to use the Brightwheel app for facilitating communication between the school and families.
For children not quite kindergarten age, Heather Oliveira is the instructor for the Pre-K program at the Christian Center. Ms Ybarra and Ms Oliveira will be working closely together to ready the younger boys and girls for their first formal education experience. "Kindergarten is part of the community's DNA," Pastor Downs noted. This is an endeavor that she and the members of her church have thought about and prayed over to be sure this is a benefit offered to the community.
In addition to the typical school day, students will be offered various enrichment programs like art, music, performing arts, and more. The proximity of the school to the Boulder City Library will provide ample opportunity for field trips as well. Ms Ybarra has also reached out to local mentors in the community to bring a wide variety of exciting experiences for the students that go beyond book learning and drills.
Interested families may stop by the Christian Center, Monday through Friday, and get a registration packet. The cost is $140 per week for the kindergarten only. For more information, please call the office at (702) 293-2360.
