EarthCam recently selected Boulder City as a site for live streaming downtown as part of the America 250 celebrations going on around the country this year! We'll let Lisa LaPlante, the City's Public Information Officer, explain what it is and how it benefits the city and residents:

EarthCam.com, an international network of live streaming cameras, selected Boulder City as a partner to showcase 250 communities across America celebrating Independence Day. The webcams transport people to locations around the world in real time, allowing viewers to explore
new and unique places without leaving their house. Earthcam.com staff was looking for “high-impact views and partners for America250” where July 4 festivities could be live streamed. “Staff applied for the opportunity to establish a camera to show Boulder City's 4th of July
Damboree Parade,” said Ned Thomas, City Manager. “EarthCam loved the concept; they were sold on the idea of showing “Small Town, USA” celebrate such a significant milestone.” Staff set up the live camera at the intersection of Nevada Way and Wyoming Ave., where the camera shows the intersection as the parade travels southbound.

EarthCam asked that the City keep the live feed downtown until after July 4, 2026, at which time the City can move it to another location. Staff believes moving the high-quality camera to Hemenway Park to replace the current RamCam device will help reduce costs while providing the world with a view of the bighorn sheep.

The City’s five-year contract with EarthCam includes the following items at no charge to the City:

  • Weather-proof camera (valued at $4500)

  • Hosting, streaming, and global distribution (valued at $750 a month: $45,000 over the five-year contract)

  • Placement across EarthCam’s network and platforms

  • Social media and marketing materials

You can see Boulder City’s live feed HERE or visit www.earthcam.com to see cameras around the world."

We think this is pretty cool and a great way to showcase our city!
