Boulder City resident Lettie Zimmerman decided to interview each candidate with a set of questions to make her own voting decision and thought that since she was going to do it anyway, she might as well make the information available to others through video interviews, which is what we have for you today!
With the help of Brandi Stankovic (who both conducted the interviews and did the post-production), Jill Lagan, and some other good folks, interviews were held this last week with 7 of the 8 candidates for City Council. Listed alphabetically, they are: Warren Harhay, Richard Loudin, Fritz McDonald, Keirnan McManus, John Milburn, James T. Stuckey, and Cam Walker. Eric Lundgaard opted not to participate.
Each participant received a copy of the questions and the process a week in advance. The interviews were all held on the same day in City Council Chambers and the candidates were all asked the same five questions, those being:
- Give us an overview of yourself and your background.
- What do you know about the job of Council Person? And why are you a good candidate?
- What is your 5-year vision for the City?
- What top priorities should be addressed in the next few years? What is your position?
- How will you contribute to make the City better? Why vote for you?
The only people in the room during each interview were Brandi, the candidate and the production crew and the interviews were recorded in “one take”. They are available for everyone to watch by clicking on each image (again, listed alphabetically) below.
The next opportunity to hear and meet the candidates will be at the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce’s Candidates Night, which will be held next week on Tuesday, March 7th at the Elaine K. Smith Building (700 Wyoming St.) at 7pm.
