The City is seeking feedback from residents and businesses regarding proposed changes to the City’s Historic Preservation Ordinance. The draft ordinance is available HERE. Proposed changes include requiring property owners within the Historic Preservation District to receive approval from the City prior to making any structural changes and/or demolition of buildings. The updated design guidelines from the Historic Preservation Committee and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties, would be applied.
Two open houses will be held for the community to voice their support or concerns will be held. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 1 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. This meeting is for residents and home owners. The second meeting will take place on Thursday, June 3 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM and is geared towards business owners. Both meetings will take place at the Smith Center, located at 700 Wyoming Street, and will be hosted by the Historic Preservation Committee Ad Hoc Committee Members and City staff. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions or otherwise provide input on the draft ordinance. Those unable to attend should send an email instead.
