Time had given us today’s super interesting post … and we mean both time and TIME (Magazine)!
TIME Magazine posted an article by Justin Worland about the record levels at Lake Mead last month and while it’s nothing we don’t already know … there is an animated GIF by Marisa Gertz that visually shows how much water has disappeared from the lake since 1984.
The photo transitions back and forth between two images taken by the NASA Earth Observatory — one in 1984 and the other in 2016. And not only is the lake’s water level interesting — you can see the size of Boulder City changing in the lower left corner and check out how much Las Vegas as grown over the last 32 years (large area to the left) — it’s fascinating! [Edited for clarification as to which city is BC and which is LV on 6/27 at 6:30pm]
You can access the article by CLICKING HERE and then just wait for the photo to transition back and forth (about every 2 seconds). Enjoy!
