I was sad to hear that there was a pet goat vs. coyote incident at the corrals last week and as you would expect, the coyote won [visualize my sad face here].
But this information reminded me of a conversation string I saw on Boulder City Paws ‘n’ Claws between Animal Control and a resident who wanted to know if coyote traps were legal, as he was having a problem with a pack of 3 coyotes, in particular — so I thought I’d share that info with you today.
It seems that coyote traps ARE legal – but the trapping of coyotes falls under the domain of the Nevada Department of Wildlife, not Boulder City Animal Control. So if you were having a specific problem and needed to talk to the right people about what your steps were, you’d call the NDOW dispatch line at (775) 688-1331 and they would route you to the right person/office to talk about the situation and what could/couldn’t be done.
So there you have it and again … sad face for the goat and his/her owner!
