I’m a fan of anything that includes the sentence: “Headlamp is required”!
The day race for Devil Dash Sin City returns to Bootleg Canyon on March 23rd – but they’ve added a really cool night race the evening before – appropriately called “The Devil in the Dark” (and yes, this is where the headlamp comes in).
The 5K obstacle course takes runners through “14 intense obstacles through Purgatory” over 3+ miles of adventurous terrain before they can celebrate at the all day festival in the Beer Garden of Eden (which has live music and food, as well).
In both the day and night races, runners will jump through fire, crawl through mud pits, climb over cargo nets, scale Satan’s Tower and work their way through additional grueling obstacles themed after the seven deadly sins. Sweet!
Amusingly, the website lists this answer under ‘Appropriate Footwear’: You will get muddy & bloody. So don’t wear anything you don’t want to get dirty. Gee…ya think??
And I suppose the silver lining is that training for Devil Dash – which you’d probably want to start now – will not only get you ready for some crazy fun…but help with the age-old New Year’s Resolution to add more fitness to your life, right? Right!
Devil Dash has a great website with a ton of info (including a map of the course)…you can check it out by clicking here.
