Boulder City’s downtown merchants want to say they are thrilled to have the construction project open and they want to see you!
The merchants along Nevada Way have shared it’s been a rough summer. But it’s over, their lights are on, and all are ready to see your faces again! Many of you have supported your local merchants during the construction and they thank you from the bottom of their hearts!
The improvements are noticeable with the wider sidewalks on the outer portico areas, now there are room for walkers, dogs, and those who need scooters or wheelchair access so they can safely traverse those areas without disturbing diners or those reveling and enjoying nighttime entertainment. The new parking configuration has improved access overall greatly! The lines are freshly painted and make it clear where our parking efforts should be configured.
Visibility is better and so is the access for bikes and motorcycles. There is also expanded handicapped parking and overall, it is a much cleaner and more organized experience for all.
We spoke briefly this morning with the owners of the World Famous Coffee Cup who overall expressed relief that the project was finished, but also seemed impressed overall. Terry Stevens noted that actually the horizontal parking spots make it easier for many of their bikers to line up their rides and take up fewer car spaces, which helps overall availability greatly.
Many were skeptical, to being outright enraged at this project when it began, but we’re calling this a win-win-win by far. Did we keep our small-town atmosphere and charm? YES. Did we improve the much needed infrastructure to support our downtown businesses? YES. Did we improve accessibility for all? YES. More importantly, we’re now in a position to see them THRIVE.
Great job to our city planners and utility management for finishing on time, and with a job well done! Thank you!
