Dry Lake Bed Solar Demo – December 20

Dry LakeBed Demo Boulder City, NV

This Thursday, December 20th (2018) the City is going to do a pretty cool thing…

Many of you are aware of the proposed Silver Peak, LLC request to rezone the dry lake bed to allow for 667 acres for solar uses. Please note – this article is not about debating the possible merits or issues regarding that matter – we’ll save that for another time.

This post is simply to let you know that Thursday from 10am to 2pm the City staff will be installing temporary barrels along the mile long perimeter of what would become that new boundary. Once that is done, they will take a drone flight, so that everyone can see exactly what that would look like from the air, so that the City Council can better visualize the impact, along with all of us too! (Currently this is planned for debate at their meeting in January.)

We’ll share that video with you when we have it! But for now, we just wanted everyone to know what’s going on down there at our beloved dry lake bed!
