State Senator Dr. Joseph Hardy was the featured speaker at today’s Boulder City Sunrise Rotary meeting. In you’re unfamiliar, the Sunrise Rotary group is comprised of over 60 members from all segments of Boulder City’s population. Their goal is “to enlarge our outreach which is funded and carried out by Rotarians to enhance the quality of life in our community”. They do this through civic, education, and athletic engagement with the wider Boulder City community to enhance the quality of life here, and as many of you know, put on the Wurst Festival each and every September. Senator Hardy was warmly received by the membership.
During the question and answer period after Senator Hardy’s remarks, he announced his intention to run for mayor of Boulder City.
Senator Hardy’s speech focused on “Things I Love About Boulder City”. He mentioned an endless list of reasons we all love Boulder City, including visits to the landfill with our fathers, the best schools in the Clark County School District, Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, bighorn sheep, churches and civic groups, small businesses and national chain operations, our grocery store, our parks and recreation facilities, our Boulder City Library, our quiet neighborhoods and our business district. He spoke fondly of the restaurants and gatherings, the parades and events the city puts on every year. Senator Hardy also talked about the slow growth ordinance and praised what it has done for the city over tiem. Last but certainly not least, he also mentioned the kind, generous and caring people of Boulder City. He stated there wasn’t a better place in the world to live, and I think we all agree with that!
