Fergie’s Fun Fright is Back!

FergiesFunFrightCharlene Boulder City Nevada

Halloween is fast upon us, but Charlene Ferguson has been preparing for spooky season for years! We told you about Fergie’s Fun Fright last year, which was the first time it had been done here in Boulder City. Here’s a brief recap of that story:

“Charlene’s father, James, helped her begin the tradition back in 1997, when they built their first haunted house together. Both were big fans of Halloween, and looked forward to sharing their joy with neighbors and other members of the community. James passed away in 2002, but Charlene revived the tradition in 2010 as a way to help carry her father’s legacy forward, and also to celebrate her oldest son’s birthday, which is October 29. She continued creating different displays annually, until moving away in 2019.”

Now she’s here in our community and we get the opportunity to enjoy the hard work Charlene (with a handful of volunteers) puts in every year to make the blacklight maze different and fun for all ages! There are two sections, one for younger children and one for older children and adults. Just to remind everyone, the maze is different every year too. When we visited with her earlier this month, we saw boxes of cool stuff being delivered for use in the maze! She mentioned to us there will be a blacklight photo backdrop with props available so you can grab some social media ready content while you’re there, so put on your best Halloween gear and head over! Reviews are welcome on the event’s Facebook page HERE.

From the event website HERE, Charlene describes the maze like this:

“Filled with animatronics, strobe lights, black lights, and a variety of ever-changing themes, this maze is a cool and fun exploration of the many sides of Halloween. Open to all ages, there is a “scary” side and a more “Halloween-sensitive” side, allowing the fun to be available to everyone.”

Last year, there were 461 guests who enjoyed the maze and more than 500 items donated. Oh yeah, did we forget to mention that in lieu of charging a fee to check out Fergie’s Fun Fright, Charlene simply asks each guest to bring a non-perishable item to benefit Emergency Aid of Boulder City. How wonderful is that? She is specifically asking guests to consider bringing the items mentioned on the Facebook page HERE for the event as those are items of the greatest need.

You can make plans to visit Fergie’s Fun Fright beginning this Friday, October 18th from 6:00PM to 9:00PM. The remaining dates for the maze are October 19, 25, 26, 27 and 31. Come check it out and bring your friends. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Charlene will be handing out candy each night the maze is open! The location remains at 1400 Monterey Drive.

Also, if you’re so inclined, you can donate to future displays by going HERE. You can also drop off cash at the door, which will help Charlene defray costs for her annual family tradition. Check out her super spooky flyer below for all the details and we’ll see you there!
