You’ve just gotta give a big hug and a round of applause for the people behind the magic – Dale Ryan and Dyanah Musgrave – for all the work that goes into the annual Christmas House (1525 Fifth Street)!
This year, they turn on the lights on Friday, December 2nd, and they have a surprise or two planned for this year. The Boulder City Mounted Police Unit will be on hand, all decked out for the night for crowd control, and of course photo ops too.
The street will close off around 4:30 pm, and then around 5:15pm Santa and Mrs. Clause along with Jingle Cat (of course!) will do the countdown and then the lights will come on for the season!
Afterwards, just walk a few blocks back up to Nevada Way and attend the Annual Boulder City Tree Lighting at 6pm….which we’re told there will also be a new surprise at that event as well!
Dale’s got some really cool stuff he’s working on this year that is completely NEW! But don’t you know it – he won’t let us tell you ANYTHING about it…so you’ll have to see for yourselves! Now in it’s 19th year, Dale puts in months of work, starting in August each year, doing maintenance and repairs and then placing each and every item on his display with thought and care.
Remember that BIG windstorm we had about a month ago? Well, they had some challenges from that and they asked we give a shout out to Chris Gatlin (retired, former owner of Woodchucks) and Steve Parmes who both helped him recover from some of the havoc created by that weather.
Remember – when it comes to viewing the lights at our famous Christmas House, to always be respectful of their home and neighbors, as there are often crowds all season long. Also remember that the house is lit and open for visitors from 5pm – 9pm, but if it’s rainy or on a night with heavy winds, the house will not be lighted as it is not safe. Enjoy everyone – we’ll see you all there!
