On June 20, 2024 the Boulder City Fire and Police Departments held their fourth annual combined awards ceremony. Deputy Chief Aaron Johnson of the Boulder City Police Department and Deputy Chief Josh Barrone of the Boulder City Fire Department welcomed the assembled guests, including members of the Fire and Police Departments and their families. Ron Russ was the event narrator.
The following awards were given by the Boulder City Police Department:
- Certificate of Appreciation awarded to Officer Dave Olson for actions taken on November 6, 2023.
- Certificate of Appreciation award to Officer Eric Prunty for actions taken in January 2024.
- Certificate of Appreciation awarded to Sergeant Peter Wheeler, Officer Jason Hunt and civilian and Sergeant Wheeler’s son, Landon Robert Wheeler for actions taken with the You Are Not Alone program.
- Letter of Commendation awarded to Lieutenant Thomas Healing, Sergeants Tiffany Driscoll, John Glenn and Chris Slack, Detectives Mark Dubois and Bret Hood and Officer Guy Liedkie for their efforts to assist during the UNLV Campus Shooting on December 6, 2023.
- Letter of Commendation awarded to Sergeant Tiffany Driscoll for life saving care rendering on September 24, 2023.
- Letter of Meritorious Service awarded to Officer Jason Hunt and Dispatcher Destiny Gilbert during a kidnapping rescue situation on June 23 and 24, 2023.
- Letter of Meritorious Serve awarded to Volunteer Coordinator and Code Enforcement Officer Pat Richardson during 2023 for organizing the various volunteer activities of the department.
- Letter of Volunteer Commendation awarded to Chaplain Michael Thrower for service to the department.
- Police Department Volunteer of the Year awarded to Lonnie Munson for service to the volunteer program as a squad leader.
The following awards were given by the Boulder City Fire Department:
- Lifesaving Award awarded to Assistant Chief Josh Barrone, Captain Nigel Walton, Engineer Mike Gabiola, Paramedic/Firefighters Harold Hadley, Ryan Spradling, and Reserve Paramedic/Firefighter Rob Acevado for lifesaving efforts undertaken on April 26, 2023.
- Lifesaving Award awarded to Captains Nigel Walton and Jimmy Whitworth, Engineer Mike Gabiola, Paramedics/Firefighters Harold Hadley and Kurt Thien, and Reserve Paramedic/Firefighter Elijah Hubbard for lifesaving efforts undertaken on August 18, 2023.
- Lifesaving Award awarded to Captain Nigel Walton, Engineer Mike Gabiola, Paramedics/Firefighters Dan Schuster, Alex Zoukas, Kurt Thien, and Quincie Hines and Reserve Paramedic/Firefighter Rob Acevado for lifesaving efforts undertaken on October 30, 2023.
- Lifesaving Award awarded to Captains Denzil Mooney and Jimmy Whitworth, Engineer Justin Clift, Paramedics/Firefighters Jay Dardano, Nick Giles, and Reserve Firefighter Casey Jones for lifesaving efforts undertaken on December 9, 2023.
- Letter of Commendation awarded to Assistant Chief Josh Barrone, Reserve Battalion Chief Scott Satterlee, Captain Aaron Bleck, and Firefighter Carl Ford for establishing a Technical Rescue Program.
- Fire Chief’s Award awarded to Firefighter/Paramedic Brian Shea for furthering the tradition of fire service.
- Reserve Firefighter of the Year awarded to Reserve Firefighter Elijah Hubbard.
- Firefighter of the Year awarded to Paramedic/Firefighter Brian Shea.
- Firefighter Medal of Merit awarded to retired Paramedic/Firefighter Walt West for 23 years of service to the department.
The following awards were given by the Municipal Court:
- Certificate of Appreciation by Deputy Court Marshal Joel Guerrero.
- Certificate of Appreciation by Deputy Court Marshal Laura Hess.
The Legacy Award presented by the Fire Department, Police Department, and Municipal Court was given to Judge Victor Miller for his 40 years of service to the City of Boulder City in dedication to the safety of law enforcement, City employees, and the residents of Boulder City.
