The Friends of the Boulder City Library have raised money and set aside funds for some changes to the Boulder City Library. Some of these changes you will see include:
LEGO WALL. This fun purchase is sure to be a hit with the kids of the Lego Club and just young visitors in general! The Friends of the Library purchased baseplates that are now attached to the Mobile STEM Station, located in the Youth Department of the library. The baseplates are designed so that kids can build on the Lego wall. To get started in creating some fun, young patrons should ask the Youth Assistant Librarian for the box of Legos or Duplos to place on the wall. We can’t wait to check out the creations the next time we visit.
LED LIGHTS AROUND THE LIBRARY. New LED strips are being installed in some parts of the library where the areas are a little dark. The cool light strips change color with a handy remote. This will allow library staff to draw attention to books and materials that can be harder to see or find, as well as contributing to the overall ambience of the library itself. This sounds like it should be fun and handy idea for lighting up some of those darker alcoves in the library.
TAKE WHAT YOU NEED. This important project is helping people in our community by gathering supplies such as combs, shampoo, sunscreen, toothbrushes, tampons, and other supplies. The items are provided to community members in need for free! The Friends of the Boulder City Library is working with local retailers to get these items at cost. They use community financial donations to purchase the items and stock the organizers with supplies. What a great way to help out those who need it!
The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization of local volunteers who help assist the Boulder City Library with projects they otherwise may not be able to afford to do. They do so thru regular used book sales, and other fundraisers and community donations. Community members are welcome to join. The Friends of the Library meet quarterly and their next meeting is August 30, 2022 from 11:30AM to 1:30PM. Reservations are required for this meeting since a light tea will be served. The cost is $10 per person. The deadline for to RSVP to (725) 243-3525 is today. You can follow the activities of the Friends of the Library on Facebook HERE.
