Have you ever heard of Donors Choose? Because a few teachers from both BCHS and Garret are on it!
I know about the site because I heard that my niece’s 1st Grade teacher in Kentucky was trying to build a better library in her classroom, so I had occasion to check it out and support that project, even from way out here in Boulder City. It was cool to help and know exactly where my donation was going.
Anyway…back to the point…some Boulder City High School and Garrett Junior High teachers have posted projects they’re trying to get supported on Donors Choose – so I thought I’d help spread the word to ya’ll.
DonorsChoose.org is a website where public school teachers from across the country post classroom project requests in hopes that people will be inspired by their project and want to support their projects with a contribution of any amount (over $1) to help them reach their funding goal.
Currently, there are 6 projects on DonorsChoose.org ranging from filmmaking, robotics and science to band, data processing and yearbook (this one is at Garrett). The teachers are Mr. Petersen, Mr. Schultz, Ms. Wiesenborn, Mr. Gillette, Mr. Bires, and Ms. Stargel – just in case helping a teacher you know is what inspires you.
The remaining funding needs range from $281 to $3,329 and you can check out the projects by searching for “Boulder City, NV” as the geographic location you are interested in — which I’ve done and created a link for you HERE. Or you can click on the image below, too!
