Giants Be Among Us! The Haunted Landscape on Fifth Street

For years we've been fans of the wonderous and magical Halloween landscape at 1415 Fifth Street, and we got the chance to meet with the owner, Destry Labo this past week. As expected, we were duly impressed!
She says her inspiration for these crazy-tall and goulishly fun statues came from when she lived in California, inspired by Disneyland artifacts and her neighbor who started putting up an annual display. Destry knew she want to do the same thing, and when she moved back to Boulder City, she realized it was the perfect spot for her to create her own seasonal display.
Why does she do it? For the kiddos! And by the way, that's kids of all ages, because even us residents of a certain age just cannot help but get a kick out of strolling past this scene, especially at night.
It's a LOT of work. The house is located just a block down the street from the famous Christmas House, and Destry along with Dale Ryan are feathered friends, so to speak. Each spend hours and hours creating their holiday displays and seem to thrive in sharing their creativity with the rest of us, even though it means no small measure of tolerance for visitors.
She wants to be sure to thank her friends and family who help her create these scenes each year, among them, her son and daugter along with Kelly Jackson, Eugene Dir and Ed Newcomb. When Halloween ends, Destry pulls down the haunted house theme and then immediately begins her Christmas display, which has also gained appreciation as folks how who visit the Christmas House on Fifth, now find themselves will a little walking tour of a very finely decorated neighborhood.
Be sure you come by for a visit this month during Spooooky Season!
