Imagine a sun-dappled tablescape, framed by airy, sheer window coverings and surrounded by beautiful roses, as you savor a wonderfully warm cup of English Breakfast tea while catching up with old friends. The Old World charm is evident throughout the quaint little tea house tucked away inside the Sweet Stop Home Décor, located at 1028 Wyoming Street, at the corner of California Avenue. This lovely little gem is a dream come true for Gina Jurgschat, owner and longtime resident of Boulder City. Gigi’s Teatime opened for business in mid-September.
If the name and face are familiar, you’d be correct! Gina has a made a career of hospitality and food and beverage service to the community. She currently splits her time between her adorable shop, Little City Grille and The Dam Bistro. This busy lady is fun, friendly and has lots of great ideas for possible expansion to her business. But let’s spill the tea now on Gigi’s Teatime!
Gianna – also known as Gigi – is Gina’s granddaughter and the namesake of the shop (cute pic alert at the store’s Instagram account – link at end of article). Reservations for a tea party must be made at least four days in advance by calling (702) 612-1825 as all of the food tower items are customized for each party. Speaking of customization, Gigi’s can accommodate vegan, vegetarian and non-dairy diets so do ask about those options. The parties are intimate and private: each party has 2-6 guests (with accommodations available for larger groups) and are by reservation only. The parties last anywhere from one to two hours and are approximately $25 per person (depending upon on the items served and length of party).
What can you expect during a Gigi’s Teatime party? Well, it’s a very personal experience that allows the participants a nice, relaxed environment in which to enjoy their goodies while surrounded by soft, lovely music and beautiful furnishings and decorations. The tea is brought to you by Full Leaf Tea Company and is organic. The food tower consists of three traditional offerings: tea sandwiches, muffins or scones and then pastries or sweets, similar to what you’d experience in an English tea shop. As previously mentioned, these items are customizable for special diets.
This cozy little restaurant is a concept we haven’t seen in quite some time here in town and would be ideal for birthday parties, family get togethers, bridal showers and the like. We wish Gina much success with her newest venture and encourage residents to check out Gigi’s Teatime soon!
