With an opening date of May 14th, 1932 – the Boulder Theatre turns 84 today! A recent post on the Boulder City Hoover Dam Museum’s Facebook page shared not only the photo above, but these interesting facts:
- The theater seated 728 people, making it the largest theater in Nevada at the time;
- The grand opening film was “It’s Tough To Be Famous” with Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.
- Four shows would play throughout the day where dam workers could pay 25 cents for a movie ticket and grab a few hours of sleep.
- The theater gained popularity not only for its movies but also for the air-conditioning!
