Health Fair Coming to Boulder City Seventh Day Adventist Church

The Boulder City Seventh Day Adventist Church is pleased to announce they will be hosting a Health Fair on Wednesday, October 11th from 3:00PM to 6:00PM. The church is located at 591 Adams Boulevard, at the corner of Adams Boulevard and San Felipe Drive.

This all-encompassing health event is open to the community. One of the goals of the fair is close gaps in care by providing dental screenings, optometrist screenings, blood pressure checks, and a food bank for neighbors who may need a little help to get by. This wonderful event is FREE to the public and all are welcome.

SilverSummit HealthPlan is the primary sponsor of the event. They will have staff on hand available to help clients with insurance issues, as well as answer questions about coverage from the community. Nevada Medicaid's open enrollment period begins now and it is an opportune time to check out options before making a selection for 2024. Some of the additional, value-added benefits offered include Costco and YMCA memberships for clients. They can also assist current clients with renewing their SilverSummit Medicaid coverage. They also offer Nevada Exchange health insurance coverage, as well as Medicare programs for those 65 and older who qualify. SilverSummit is well-known for meeting clients where they're at in the community and this is their first visit to Boulder City to connect clients with care. Joining the church and SilverSummit is Puentes of Las Vegas. Puentes is an important resource for many in our community as they work with residents to get vaccinations, provide food, and offer assistance in connecting residents with various government agencies for assistance. EmployNV is a government agency that connects Nevada residents with jobs. They will be on hand at the event as well.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church, pastored by Rodolfo Paredes, is a community resource available to local residents. He came to the church in January 2023 and has been learning more about our town. His goal is to continue to make the church a welcoming place, whether through community events like this one, or by welcoming new people to the congregation each Saturday at 11:00AM and Wednesday evenings at 7:00PM. He began his career in the church as a young man, first as a youth leader, then began preaching at age 16. He went on to get a theology degree at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI and returned to Las Vegas where he began as a Bible worker, to associate pastor, and then senior pastor at Boulder City. He's enthusiastic and personable and eager for his church to be the embodiment of the biblical teaching, "Love your neighbor."

The church is reaching out to the residents of Boulder City and hoping to embark on a community partnership to benefit all. They offer Sabbath School on Saturdays from 9:30AM to about 10:45AM. There are regular church services each Saturday morning from 11:00AM to about 12:15PM. On the first, third, and fifth (if needed) Saturday, after the church service, the congregation shares a potluck meal together. There is a Bible Study every Wednesday evening from 7:00PM to 8:00PM. Their youth program includes the Adventure Club children's ministry, for kids ages 4-9 where they learn biblical concepts and life skills.
