Historic Boulder Theatre to Host Dam Short Film Festival in 2027

The Historic Boulder Theatre was recently announced as the location for the Dam Short Film Festival, to be held February 17-21, 2027. This news was met with excitement by the organizers, as well as attendees, who recall previous festivals held inside the theater.

Anna McKay, manager of events at the Boulder Theatre, told us that the contracts were signed a couple weeks ago and that she's "happy the community is excited." The theater, located at 1225 Arizona Street and built during the construction of Hoover Dam, has long been a community gathering place. Most recently, the theater has hosted several productions by Dance Etc, such as the recent Annie and Movie Magic dance events that took place in June. Anna tells us Dance Etc will continue to use the venue for their Christmas shows and their shows in June 2027.

The theater is still owned by Desi Arnaz, Jr, who maintains a home here in Boulder City, where he resided with his late wife, Amy. The theater is has been restored to a live performance venue with a performance stage and truss lighting and sound systems, as well. The theater will be available on a limited basis for compatible events. Proposed event uses can be emailed HERE for Anna McKay's consideration. Please note that due to the historic nature of the building and its amenities, not all uses can be accommodated. This beautiful gem will continue to provide a historic backdrop to future events!
