May is Historic Preservation Month and the City has designated Saturday, May 10 as Historic Preservation Day! The Boulder City Historic Preservation Commission will be hosting. They have several activities planned for the day and it all starts at 9:00AM at Dam Roast House and Browder’s Bookstore. This location is where Ida Browder, the city’s first businesswoman, established her famous restaurant. She also was instrumental in creating the first library here. This takes place from 9:00AM to 10:00AM.
At 10:00AM, the focus moves to the historic Water Filtration Plant at 300 Railroad Avenue. Several different presentations will take place at this location. There will also be hands on activities at this location including time capsules, archaeological dig, natural dyes, and DIY paper making.
The final exhibition will commence at ABC Park at 801 Adams Boulevard at 1:00PM. A tile making demonstration by local artist, Julie Connell, will demonstrate how tiles found in many historic homes are replicated. This presentation concludes at 2:00PM.
Come join the Commission and learn more about Boulder City’s history and efforts to preserve the past, while shaping the future.
