We know the local walking/running/hiking population is going to be THRILLED to see that tunnel #3 out at the Historic Railroad Trail is now open all the way to Hoover Dam again!
The issue has been to try to repair what has been obvious deterioration of the timber that frames that tunnel, making it unsafe. Earlier we’d been told that there was no ETA on when that might be repaired, so those tunnels were closed.
Brilliant solution! They’ve now got cargo containers stationed at tunnels 2 and 3 to make sure walkers are protected, and we can again enjoy the views on this route we so love! They have ramps too, leading up and away form these babies, so it’s also still an accessible trail too!
Also…on October 1st we can share that both Goldstrike Canyon and Arizona Hot Springs Trail will reopen for the fall/winter/spring season. As always, hike safe and enjoy our natural resources!
