History of the Hemenway Vista Mosaic

Hemenway Vista Mosaic in Boulder City, NevadaThere is never a trip down Nevada Way into historic downtown that I don’t admire the beautiful mosaic in Frank Crowe Park.

I finally stopped to find out if there was a plaque tucked around it somewhere that would let me share how it came to be there and who we should credit for it. Well, I found no such plaque, but I did find some names in the bottom right corner and recognized one of them, so I called my good friend Lettie Z. to find out more info. Lettie referred me to Patty Sullivan at Parks and Rec, who sent me the most AWESOME photos of the entire project, from beginning to end. And it’s AWESOME.

I’ve put them into the slideshow below, including the captions that were on each image. Patty also sent me a 2-page PDF article that outlines how the wall mural came to be, what it took to get it done and who helped make it happen. You can read the article by clicking here…pretty cool stuff to see, know and appreciate the next time you drive by Frank Crowe Park!
