Huevos Avenue has certainly taken Boulder City by storm. We first told you about them HERE. In the year and a half since then, they’ve served thousands of happy customers, won the prestigious Boulder City Chamber of Commerce “Best of Boulder City” award against some very tough competition, and now they’ve expanded their menu and their hours to include dinner service Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Dinner starts at 4:00PM and the restaurant closes at 9:00PM. Of course they are still open daily for breakfast and lunch from 7:00AM to 3:00PM. When they started dinner service a few weeks ago, the line wound into the parking lot with loyal customers looking to check it out!
One of the best parts about Huevos Avenue is the menu. The dinner menu is no different! Jennifer and Alex Villasenor have cooked a dinner menu designed to delight diners with a range of tasty options. There is salmon, pot roast, New York steak — you know, the typical dinner fare. But where they excel and shine is in the special menu. Here are just a few selections:
- Sopes: these are traditional Mexican sopes made with masa and filled with a choice of meat topped with lettuce, tomato, and onion. Served with slow cooked Peruvian beans and rice.
- Presley Burger: an all beef patty twith a peanut butter spread and habanero jelly
- Conejo Gourmet Burger: an all beef patty with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, onion, lettuce, tomato, queso fresco, and secret spicy sauce (made with roasted peanuts)
They have a range of appetizers to start with, including something that intrigued us: corn ribs. This is a corn cob, deep fried, and topped with a special sauce and tajÃn. We will definitely be trying that on our next visit! They also have more traditional fare like mozzarella sticks and three kinds of quesadillas — chicken, steak, or vegetable.
Soup is also on the menu: chicken tortilla soup and potato soup are two of the more popular options. Pair one with some street tacos and you’re all set!
With a full bar, they serve beer, wine, and specialty cocktails. One that caught our eye is the Vampiro. It’s made with tequila, sangrita, grenadine, and has a tajÃn rim. Of course, they also offer margaritas (our fave!!!), mojitos, old-fashioneds, and Palomas, to name a few. You’ll have to check back frequently as they are constantly revising and refining their menu.
Don’t leave without checking out dessert too! They will soon be serving “tipsy” alcohol-infused desserts to top off your meal. We can’t wait to give those a try!
