It’s a fond summertime childhood memory for many of us: the tinkling tones of the ice cream truck coming down the street, filled with all sorts of cold, yummy treats. It’s been a while since we’ve heard those songs around Boulder City, but that is now a problem that’s been solved.
Meet Kasandra Gotz, the entrepreneur behind the U Gottz Ice Cream Truck! She’s stocking more than 50 types of products in her truck so you’re sure to find a fave (or several). In addition to delicious, creamy ice cream treats, she also has chips and candy for those interested in something different.
You may already know Kasandra as she attended Boulder City High School and is a long time resident. During high school, she struck up a friendship with Ember Ott, and they dreamed of owning a business together. They hadn’t decided what type of business, and sadly, Ember passed away a few years ago. Kasandra kept their dream alive and incorporated both their last names in the name of her ice cream enterprise, hence U Gottz Ice Cream Truck!
You can count on seeing the truck at various events around town, as she is available for pop ups (just send her a message on Facebook or call 702-904-5485 to make arrangements). But the true nature of her business is driving through the local neighborhoods, music playing, bringing smiles to the young and the young at heart. The music of the ice cream truck has always been a siren song for kiddos, but on a recent visit at the Boulder City Library, we spotted several “grown kids” in line to get their bomb pops and fudgesicles alongside the little customers.
You may also know Kasandra from Hoover Dam Lodge, where she occasionally works the graveyard shift. Her work on the ice cream truck leaves her with a lot more time with her three children: two daughters ages 15 and 8, and her son, who is 2.
We have some special news for you about where U Gottz Ice Cream Truck will be this week! They will be holding their Boulder City Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting on Wednesday, July 17 at Devon’s Garden, located at 1400 Colorado Street. The event takes place at 2:00PM, but stop by early with the kids as activities for them will begin at 1:15PM.
You can check out the U Gottz Ice Cream Truck Facebook page HERE. They also have an Instagram account HERE where she posts fun videos of people enjoying the ice cream! We were intrigued by the “ice cream wedding” she recently did…that sounds like an amazing idea! We’re so happy she’s here and we’ll be waiting for her next trip to our neighborhood!
