The Best Dam Barbecue Challenge is only 12 days away, so it’s what you want to be doin’ for Memorial Day Weekend, of course!
This is the 8th Annual Barbecue Challenge and has all the usual fun event attractions — a Family Fun Zone (sponsored by Verizon), a Rock Climbing Wall, a Car Show (put on by Boulder City Cruisin’ Association) and more junk food than any kid should reasonably have in a day, of course!
On Friday night, there will be a car show cruise-in at 5pm and a DJ’d Dance Party at 8:00pm at the Gazebo (sponsored by the Hacienda Hotel and Casino).
For folks coming out on Friday night — there’s something ridiculously special planned with the Boot Girls (more info about who they are is here).
Trust me when I say that it’s something you won’t want to miss, but that’s all I’m allowed to say about that!
KOMP Radio’s morning team Craig and Al (below) will be the celebrity judges of the Kids Que Challenge (more info here) with Barbecue Legend Mike Mills once again serving as the Master of Ceremonies.
Mike Mills will also be holding a Barbecue Demonstration in Bicentennial Park on preparing and smoking ribs (that’s Saturday at 9:15am).
Oh, what else? American Legion, Devil Pups, a balloon artist and magician, glitter tattoos, old-fashioned games by Interact, the annual rib eating contest between the Boulder City Police Dept. and the Boulder City Fire Dept., the Kids Que, Live Music on Saturday by Bizness and of course – the awards ceremony for the winners of the $10,000 prize pool for the Best Dam Barbecue Challenge!
It’s gonna be a whole lotta fun — be sure to come on out! Much more info about the event can be found on the Best Dam Barbecue’s website (created by yours truly, in fact)…you can check it out by clicking here!
The Best Dam Barbecue Challenged is hosted by the Rotary Club of Boulder City (aka Noon Rotary) and is the major fundraising event of the year. Funds raised go to support Boulder City Schools, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, Emergency Aid, Lend A Hand and many other local programs.
