Charlotte Bothwell has always been inspired by fashion. She’s modeled, she’s had her own clothing line, she’s cultivated a successful business reselling clothing on eBay and Poshmark, she’s sourced vintage clothing. She was reading Vogue and watching the latest fashion trends along the way. Charlotte describes her style aesthetic as “easy glam” and “Los Angeles meets Paris”. These experiences have led her to this special moment: opening her own resale and consignment business at 833 Nevada Way, Suite 3B.
The name, Josie’s Closet, comes from Charlotte’s dear grandmother, Josie. Josie was a model too and she was a style icon for her granddaughter. When you visit the store, you’ll find Josie’s influence, as interpreted through Charlotte. There are some lovely photographs of Josie posted around the boutique.
Moving back to her hometown after spending a few years in the fashion forward city of Los Angeles, she continued her clothing resale business out of her home. Over time, it became apparent that the business was outgrowing her space, and she and her husband started considering other options. The commercial property at Blair Plaza became available and she signed her lease in October. Since then, she’s remodeled the space and gathered various pieces of clothing to fill the beautiful store.
One thing you’ll notice when you walk into the boutique, is a fun, eclectic inventory of shoes, bags and other accessories, in addition to the carefully curated clothing. There are lots of fun pieces to work with to create a truly memorable outfit. Everything is full of promise and purpose and waiting to find a new owner. Some of the clothing is gently loved, or vintage, while there are occasional NWT (new with tags) items as well. You will find a wide variety of brands in the store ranging from Zara to Free People to Chanel and Gucci. One of the things Charlotte loves to do is style her clients so shoppers are encouraged to take advantage of her knowledge of the trends, and the inventory in her store. She can help you refine your style or perhaps get ready for a special event.
She will begin taking trades and consignment items in April, which is just in time for spring cleaning! Why not unburden your closets (aka make room for new items) and bring your items to Josie’s to trade or put on consignment? She will evaluate the clothing and give you store credit for those pieces she thinks will sell. Then you can use that credit to apply toward a purchase in-store. She also accepts clothing donations and makes frequent trips to Salvation Army and the SAFE House Women’s Shelter.
Married to Todd, with a daughter and a son, she feels like her store fills a niche in Boulder City. “Being around fashion every day is a total dream,” she says. She also mentioned that opening a store has been a goal of hers for several years and this opportunity came together quickly. She was grateful for the support of her husband and children, and also thankful for all of her friends. Without their encouragement and help, she wouldn’t have been able to take this giant step forward in her career.
Josie’s Closet is open Friday thru Sunday from 11:00AM to 5:00PM. The store’s location is 833 Nevada Way, Suite B. The store maintains a Facebook page HERE and Instagram HERE. She’s still working on the website, so check back here for updates! In the meantime, there’s plenty of shopping to be done!
