At last Wednesday’s Chamber of Commerce Mixer (good times down at Lake Mead Cruises) — we were introduced to a new member…Lake Mead Junior Sailing Academy….and they seemed like folks ya’ll would want to know about.
LMJSA offers a variety of sailing classes for youth ages 8-18 down at Lake Mead Marina – from Beginner Sailing to Intermediate Sailing and Advanced Sailing. Heck, they’ve even got Basic Keelboat classes for adults who have never sailed before or those that never took a course and want to know how to do it right.
They are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide children the opportunity to experience the joys of sailing through quality instruction in the areas of boat handling, seamanship, water safety skills and racing in a safe and fun learning environment.
If you are interested in learning more, Lake Mead Junior Sailing Academy is hosting an free Open House on Sunday, March 20th from 1:00pm – 3:00pm down at Lake Mead (490 C Horsepower Cover). You can find out more information about the Open House and the organization in general by calling Kris Baker at (702) 582-7245 or visiting their website by clicking here (very nice website, by the way…and we all know how fussy I about those things)!
