Here’s some happy stats! In a mere three months, recycling at Lake Mead National Recreation Area has increased approximately 20 percent, thanks to their new single stream no-sort recycling program…the same one we have here in town!
More than 30 single stream dumpsters have been placed around Boulder Beach, Callville Bay and Katherine Landing, allowing visitors to throw all of their recyclables into one bin without sorting.
The park’s goal is to help Lake Mead meet the Department of Interior’s goal to divert at least 50 percent of nonhazardous solid waste by fiscal year 2015 and with 95 tons recycled in 2012, it looks like they’re on their way…GO LAKE MEAD REC AREA!
