Lake Mead Water Shortage Declaration Expected in 2018

Lake Mead Near Boulder City, NevadaExpectations are that Lake Mead’s water level will drop from its current 1,083.5 feet to 1,073 before year’s end, triggering the first-ever federal shortage declaration. But what happens then?

In short … once Lake Mead has reached the shortage level of 1,075 feet above sea level, Nevada will have to reduce its river use by 4%, while Arizona will need to reduce its use by a whopping 11%.
