Leafy Latitude Cigar Bar and Lounge is open for business now at the former Nevada State Bank, located at 1000 Nevada Way. This unique business offers dozens of types of cigars in a specially temperature controlled humidor room. The business, which had a soft opening last week, is currently offering soft drinks as they await approval of their cocktail license. The space is airy and set up with a number of club chairs and really cool coffee tables that double as foosball tables. On our recent visit, a couple were enjoying their cigar selection while listening to music. The vibe was very chill and relaxed.
The owner, Ted Lucas, is a pacemaker salesman by profession, but he’s owned other businesses on the side – most recently a retail liquor store in Las Vegas. However, he always wished to own a cigar bar. One day he happened to be in Boulder City with his son, TJ (who is also the lounge manager) and he saw the building for sale. He toured it and decided that Boulder City would be a great spot for his business. He negotiated the sale and the rest, as they say, was history.
In addition to enjoying cigars and drinks, customers can also enjoy television programming via the number of televisions hung throughout the building. They generally provide sports themed programming like mixed martial arts fights on Saturday nights. On Wednesday nights, beginning Wednesday, July 31, they will also have live music. A doctor from Kingman, AZ, who is one of Ted’s clients, plays horns and keyboard and he will be performing weekly.
There are plans for a VIP room which will be inside the old bank vault. The VIP room will have its own mini lounge for customers to enjoy their purchases with friends. Additionally, the business will eventually offer customers lock boxes for their cigars and alcohol. These will be repurposed bank safe deposit boxes.
Ted tells us that most cigar aficionados don’t actually smoke their cigars, but instead buy them for the taste. The clientele is mostly males, but there was a woman enjoying a cigar while we visited. The lounge is welcome to both women and men. It would be a fantastic location for an adult birthday party, a bachelor party, or to celebrate a promotion.
Ted lives in Green Valley Ranch with his wife, Supannee, and their four sons.
The lounge is open Sunday thru Thursday, from 10:00AM to 10:00PM and Friday and Saturday, from 10:00AM to midnight. They maintain a Facebook page HERE and an Instagram account HERE. The lounge phone number is (702) 338-5992.
