Lend A Hand Growing Together Event August 27

Lend A Hand invites residents to join them for a Volunteer Event on Wednesday, August 27 from 4:00PM to 6:00PM. This event will take place at the Lend A Hand building, conveniently located at 801 Adams Boulevard, Cottage 3 in ABC Park. Volunteers are needed to assist our community's senior population with various tasks like driving to appointments, offering companionship and support, assisting with event and community needs, and help spreading the word about this great organization that is doing amazing work!
Recently, volunteers from Lend A Hand were on hand at the Main Street Boulder City planter installation. The planter just outside Dam Roast House and Browder's Bookstore and Big T's Cantina (554 and 550 Nevada Way) in historic Downtown Boulder City is dedicated to the organization's volunteers: past, present, and future. What started as a small collection of plants and flowers has since blossomed into a beautiful display of living material that all can enjoy. It's such a beautiful reminder of what can be accomplished when people care and nurture things and people around them!
What is Lend A Hand? In their own words:
Founded by caring residents and local organizations in 1989, Lend A Hand has continuously helped Boulder City senior residents by providing increased access to medical care, respite care and basic transportation to shopping and personal needs. These sometimes basic tasks not only provide improved quality of life but in many cases allow our clients to remain independent in their own homes. Each year our trained volunteers serve hundreds of clients, many of whom have low or fixed incomes.
What is Lend A Hand's mission?
Our mission is to help improve the quality of life for persons with disabling disorders, the chronically ill, and the frail elderly by assisting them and / or their caregivers with services not otherwise available or accessible in Boulder City.
We have many “seasoned citizens” in our community. In fact, we have twice the state average for the group 65 and older! That’s a lot of folks. They need help with transportation to medical appointments, shopping, and personal needs, as well as respite care for caregivers. Many of the clients are on low or fixed incomes, which makes Lend A Hand even more valuable to them. "Lend A Hand is looking for more heroes who believe that small acts compound into something beautiful. Come meet the team, see the Lend A Hand mission in action, and find your place in it," noted Kevin Abbott, Director of Lend A Hand. Come to the Growing Together event on August 27 to find out more about becoming a volunteer with this amazing organization. The detailed flyer for the event is below.
