Library Events for January 2025

New year, new you, is how the saying goes! Make January your time to set some new reading goals for education, edification, and entertainment at the Boulder City Library! The library is home to thousands of books in multiple formats so if you received a new reader like a Kindle for the holidays, now is a good time to check out the Libby by Overdrive app for ebooks and audiobooks. Prefer a more traditional option, like an actual book book? They’ve got you covered there as well! Did you know Boulder City Library patrons in good standing can request titles from any library in the Las Vegas Clark County Library District (LVCCLD)? If you’re not sure how to get your hands on the latest biography or maybe you’ve got your eye on a new healthy eating cookbook, visit the library and ask how you can request books.

It’s also time to join the Library’s Winter Reading Program, now thru February 21, 2025. Use Beanstack to log your minutes read each day to earn entries in the drawings for prizes at the conclusion of the program. See the circulation desk, call, or click HERE to sign up.

Wednesday, January 15, 2025 for New Year’s Day holiday. Regular hours resume Thursday, January 2, 2025.
Monday, January 19, 2025 Martin Luther King Jr holiday. Regular hours resume Tuesday, January 20, 2025.

Regular operating hours for the library are as follows: Monday thru Thursday from 10:00AM to 8:00PM, and Friday thru Sunday from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. The library is located at 701 Adams Boulevard and is online 24 hours a day HERE. Thursday, January 2 at 1:00PM: Afternoon Movie: The Wild Robot. All Ages. Community Room.
Saturday, January 4 10:00AM to 3:00PM: Pop-up Book Sale in the Boulder City Library Lobby.
Tuesday, January 7 at 10:00AM: Immunization Clinic. Get up to date on your vaccines with the Southern Nevada Health District in the Community Room.
Monday, January 13 at 10:00AM: Blood Drive.Vitalant is hosting a community blood drive. Look for the bloodmobile parked outside the library.

Ages 0-5 Programs

Tuesdays at 10:30AM: Toddler Tuesday Storytime. Ages 1-3 and Caregiver in the Board Room. Join us for stories, songs, and a coloring sheet.
Thursdays at 9:30AM: Early Risers Lapsit Storytime. Ages 0-2 and Caregiver in the Community Room. Join us for stories and songs.
Fridays at 10:30AM Drop In Storytime. Ages 0-5 and Caregiver in the Board Room. Join us for stories, songs, and crafts.

Ages 6-11 Programs

Tuesday, January 14 and 20 at 3:30PM: Lego Building Challenge. We provide the Legos, you provide the imagination! Community Room.
Wednesdays at 3:30PM: Youth Yoga. Stretch out and relax with friends. Community Room. Resumes on 01/08/2025.

Ages 12-18 Programs

Teen Time: Different activities daily on school days at 2:00PM. Coloring, puzzles, board games, or crafts while you hang out with your friends in the Teen Area.
Tuesdays at 3:00PM Roleplayers Guild: Dungeons and Dragons 5e in the Nevada Room.
Wednesdays at 3:30PM: Youth Yoga. Stretch out and relax with friends in the Community Room. Resumes on 01/08/2025.

Family Programs

Monday, January 13 at 2:00PM: Homeschool Hangout. Learn from other Homeschooling families within Boulder City in the Community Room.
Saturday, January 25 at 11:00AM: Fisher Space Pen. Join us to learn about the fascinating Fisher Space Pen in the Community Room!

Wednesday, January 15 at 10:30AM: Radon Presentation. Join us for a community radon presentation and receive a free radon testing kit in the Community Room.

Thursday, January 16 at 6:00PM: Crochet Skills Class. Stitch TBD. Class runs 6:00PM to 7:30PM in the Community Room. Sign-ups required.
Saturday, January 18 11:00AM: Ancestry Club. Learn from others as you research your family history in the Community Room.
Saturday, January 18 at 2:00PM: How Not To Burn Toast. From Behind the Paywall in the Community Room. Sign-ups required.
Sunday, January 19 at 2:00PM: Fiber Arts Club. Learn from others and work on your projects with friends in the Community Room. This activity available for patrons 16 and older.
Tuesday, January 21 at 6:00PM: Come Write In. Join our Creative Writing Group to work on projects and learn from others in the Community Room.
Wednesday, January 22 6:30PM: New Year, New Plants Plant Clipping Swap. Swap some of your plant clippings with other members of the community in the Community Room.
Saturday, January 25 1:00PM: Music Appreciation. Sounds of Japan. Learn about different musical styles in the Board Room. This activity available for patrons 13 and older.

Wednesdays 2:00PM to 4:00PM: Open Maker Time in the Makerspace. Must be certified on the machines you intend to use.
