Little Lambs Moves to Greener Pastures

We’re super excited to share that the long-standing preschool and day care center, Little Lambs is going to be moving out of its home at Christ Lutheran Church and into a new spot (formerly Jack and the Bean Stalk) downtown, located at 1304 Wyoming! (Mind, the church is maintaining its location on the corner of 5th and B, only the day care center is moving).

This much-needed day care center has been a Boulder City staple for decades, always run out of its home at Christ Lutheran. When Jessica and Adam Stetson took over several years ago it was a match made in heaven with not only Adam’s mission but Jessica’s background with a Bachelors Degree in Christian Education Leadership. During the pandemic, she and other educators opened their own Distance Learning Center to meet the community’s needs.

When we asked Jessica about this move, she told us, “We have wanted to expand for so long and it seemed like every door would close so hard. Then one conversation happened and 3 months later Little Lambs has a beautiful new building and we can serve double the amount of families plus have our church facility for more ministry opportunities. God has made every step of this process “easy”. There is no doubt that He is in control of this process and He has blessed us with an amazing community to make it happen. Our realtor, Chelsea Scheppmann, did an amazing job helping our congregation navigate the loan process and coordinate all the moving parts. The Boulder City Building Department and Business Licensing has been awesome getting our permits moving. Our Christ Lutheran/Little Lambs family has spent hours cleaning, painting, sorting and more to get the building ready. The community is cheering us on and it is wonderful to watch it all come together so quickly. There are so many people to thank for helping us get here and we are so thankful for the opportunity to serve Boulder City.”

The move is much needed. We spoke to Donna Kent, the Director of Little Lambs about the changes that will come once they are opened. She tells us that they will be able to offer infant care for six weeks and up, something they could never do before. They will also be able to nearly double the number of children they take, currently with a capacity of 36, that will now increase to 67 overall.

Last weekend, they had several dozen volunteers and staff who came in to help spiff up the building. They tell us it was in great shape, but all is cleaned spick and span now with some fresh paint in the lobby and some needed repairs from sun damage to the front play area. Otherwise, this building you may recall, is relatively new, built in only 2019 and finished in 2020. That business unfortunately folded, but we are so happy to see it now with new life, and as a wonderful new home for such a great part of the community.

Hours are 7am – 6pm, Monday through Friday, and can arrange for an early 6am drop-off. Currently they have eight care providers on staff and will continue to add as they grow. If you’re a parent and needing child care, we’d say to go check it out! They are in the process of clearing the last of their inspections now, and hope to be open soon thereafter. To Adam, Jessica and staff we are so thrilled for them and wish them the best of success!
