Surely, you’ve seen the banners posted all over town letting you know that National Night Out is this coming Tuesday, August 2nd at 6:00pm in Veterans Memorial Park…they’d be pretty hard to miss!
Although Boulder City hasn’t been hosting the event this long, National Night Out is actually 28 years old this year and nationwide, over 37 million people participated in 2010. The goal of the event is to strengthen neighborhood spirit by bringing together its citizens with law enforcement agencies, local officials, civic groups, businesses and neighborhood organizations.
This year’s event, brought to you by the Boulder City Police Department and the City of Boulder City, will feature the annual Police vs. Fire Softball Game, a rock climbing wall, a free barbecue with refreshments (courtesy of Albertsons), boating safety demonstrations (complete with free life vests), eating contests, giveaways, a Mercy Air Landing and helicopter tours, a SkyDive Las Vegas Demo, bounce houses, water slides, a K9 Demo and yes, a dunk tank…manned by Boulder City Council members (that’s my personal favorite).
True Dollar will be giving away prizes and Albertsons has teamed up with 7-Up to give away a “Captain America Custom Chopper” in a raffle where each can of donated food will get you a ticket…that’s a fundraiser for Emergency Aid, which is always in need of shelf-stocking.
This is a TRULY fun event – so come on out and hang out with the people who run the city for us and keep it a safe and awesome place to live. Here’s the official flyer for ya!
