Boulder City’s newest City Manager, Ned Thomas, begins his tenure today. He was selected by the City Council in November 2024 from a list of more than 100 candidates from across the United States. He has worked in city administration and leadership for more than thirty years.
His most recent experience is with the City of Milpitas, just north of San Jose, California, with approximately 81,000 residents. His wife, Cherlynn, and family already reside in Henderson, Nevada. The Thomases will begin looking for a home here in Boulder City, as his contract requires that he move to Boulder City within a year of hire.
Mayor Joe Hardy expressed confidence in Mr Thomas and had this to say about the incoming manager:
City Council interviewed two candidates late last year, offering the job to Mr. Thomas in November 2024. “Mr. Thomas has a valuable work history here in Southern Nevada, displays great leadership skills and understands the importance of partnerships,” said Boulder City Mayor Joe Hardy. “His knowledge of the region will benefit the residents of Boulder City greatly. I look forward to working with him.”
When asked about his approach to city management, Mr. Thomas noted:
“…[he] enjoys public service and is looking forward to working with community leaders, residents, and staff. “Local government is closest to the people and delivers vital public services such as police and fire protection, streets and utilities, parks and recreation, planning and more,” Mr. Thomas said. “These services enhance quality of life, as well as ensure safety and comfort, effectively and efficiently.”
Ned and Cherlynn have been married 27 years and have four children, including a daughter who will graduate from Foothill High School in Henderson next month. They also have a Welsh Corgi named Willow.
