Need Books and a Blowout? There's a Store for That
A romance bookstore and hair salon combo? Of course! The brainchild of Shelby, a hairdresser, and Bree, a candlemaker, has launched in Boulder City. Located at 501 Nevada Way, Suite 2, the shop boasts a cool, elegant gothic vibe with lots of black furnishings, ceiling covers, with candles and skulls peeking from bookcases stocked with some of your favorite indie authors. The attention to detail is one of the things that stands out when you first walk thru the door of the shop.
Bree first met Shelby when Shelby began doing her hair. Over many of those chairside chats, the two businesswomen came up with the idea for a boutique and salon. Both are avid readers, in the romance genre. The books, much like the store, have a dark, edgy side that is very appealing to those for whom the common syrupy romance novel just won't do.
Shelby has been styling hair for almost twenty years and her clientele includes women, men, and children (including those with special needs). She is a full service stylist, offering cuts, color, highlights, etc. To make an appointment with her, please text (702) 340-6191. Shelby personally selects all the books for the store.
Bree is the resident artisan. She crafts candles from the wick up and you may have seen her business, Til Death Creations, in local pop ups across the valley. Many of the candles feature themes like skulls, skeletons, and more. There are also some more whimsical designs available if you're looking for a unique gift for someone, or to treat yourself. She also offers workshops so be sure to inquire about those the next time you stop by.
In addition to the cuts and candles, you'll find other eclectic items in their store. Recently, we spotted things like clothing, wax melts for warmers, straw toppers with a Freddy Krueger theme, body butters, and more. It's safe to say that you'll find a little bit of something for everyone while browsing the store.
The ladies say they've really enjoyed getting to know Boulder City and they appreciate the welcoming atmosphere they've encountered since their grand opening in February. They look forward to seeing folks at the next Wine Walk on April 11, or stop by anytime Tuesday thru Sunday from 11:00AM to 5:00PM. They are closed on Mondays. You can also check them out on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok at @the.damned.boutique.
