If you’re looking to see some gravity-defying and amazing downhill bike racing, then this weekend head out to Bootleg Canyon…
The 2018 DVO Nevada State Gravity Championships are in town, and spectators are welcome! Best of all, there’s no cost for those of us who just want to watch and take it all in.
Back in the day, we used to mountain bike a bit ourselves – we’ve since decided we prefer our bones un-broken and our egos un-bruised – but we’ve always been impressed with the physical skills these competitors possess. (Really! You’re gonna point your bike and ride straight down THAT hill?!?)
Races get started around 9am on Saturday and run until sunset on both Saturday and Sunday, the 20-21st.
Event organizer “Downhill Mike” says that they’ll have everything from world-class pros to youths participating in the competition. (He tells us that the kid in the photo above is only 7!!!)
You can see some FAQ’s on his page HERE, but they will have food vendors, and do say that you can bring well-behaved dogs on leashes too.
To attend, simply head on up to 1027 Canyon Road in Boulder City, park at the entrance of Bootleg Canyon, and find a good spot to enjoy the action!
