Public Works sent out an update at the end of last week and I thought I’d pass along a little of the info to ya.
What wasn’t necessarily in this one was the reminder that the speed limit remains at 15 MPH through the entire construction zone — but it’s a good thing to start off with, that’s for sure!
Buchanan & U.S. 93
All of the new water and sewer service work has been completed and all tests were passed. The contractor handling that part of the project will begin working at the intersection of Buchanan and the U.S. 93 this week. I’m thinking it’s gonna be a crazy corner that you might want to avoid if you can. That work is scheduled to be completed by the end of May.
Fifth Street & Nevada Way
Much to Southwest Diner patrons’ delight…5th Street at Nevada Way is now open for vehicular traffic and the plan is to have 5th Street paved within the next two weeks.
Wyoming / New Mexico Info
New Mexico is now closed so that the new concrete can be installed on half of the intersection. Also, the new curb and gutter along Nevada Way between Wyoming and 5th street is now being installed.
Bus Stop at Nevada Way & Elm Street
RTC (not the City) has decided to close the bus stop at Nevada Way & Elm (right in front of Bank of America) due to the construction. Public Works is working with the RTC to see if a temporary bus stop can be set up between Elm & Buchanan.
Next Progress Meeting
The next progress meeting will be on Thursday, May 10th at 4:30pm in the gymnasium at the Water & Power Building (located on the northwest corner of Nevada Way and Wyoming). Public Works invites you come and voice any questions or concerns you have regarding the project or you can contact them by calling 293-9205 or via email at pwadmin@bcnv.org!
