Early next month in December, there’s going to be a fun new business coming to the Southern Nevada Railway Museum, called the Rail Explorers.
They are simply, bikes that you ride on the rails and it’s easy to do and super fun!
Rail Explorers USA started in 2015 in upstate New York, and then moved to Rhode Island.
In the past they shut down for winter, but now, they are going to come here from December thru the end of April.
Mary Joy Lu the CEO had been looking for a ‘snowbird’ location for her bikes, from the beginning. About a year ago she reached out to the NV State Railway Museum, looking for a winter home, and we got it!
They will bring over their 23 Explorer bikes, both 2 and 4 seaters, and you can rent and ride them from the museum to the back of Railroad Pass. What’s even more fun is the bikes can also be hooked together for a large group!
The ride to Railroad Pass is a gentle slope downhill that doesn’t take a lot of work. They are working towards a combined trip where they will have a few locomotives that pull the bikes back for those who don’t want the strenuous ride home – and you get to ride the train back too.
Although….calling all fitness buffs and cross-fit fans! We’re thinking that could be a really fun workout for those up to the challenge. It’s like a spin class with a view!
Pricing and other details are still TBD, so check back when they open next month.
ALSO EXCITING – They’re hiring:
They will be looking to employ around 15 local people, and resumes and inquiries can be made here: info@railexplorers.net.
We’re thinking we can’t wait to see us all out there enjoying this new attraction!
