Welcome Medolac Laboratories to Boulder City!
They are a public benefit corporation specializing in testing, processing and distributing breast milk for infants, and you can learn more on their web site HERE.
We had the pleasure of meeting Elena Medo, Founder and CEO of the corporation along with her son, Aaron, a few nights ago.
They’ve been in business since 2009, located up in Oregon. But this family-owned company has more family back in Southern California, and they wanted to be closer.
Elena says, “we came to Nevada primarily due to the state Governor’s Office of Economic Development program with the abatements and incentives offered by the Governor’s office. Then we found the VONS store and we discovered this beautiful gem called Boulder City!”
They’re already busy cleaning out the old space and are ready to begin hiring almost immediately! For now they will likely get started with around 30 employees, but within a few years, plan to have as many as 100 + jobs locally and elsewhere.
They also emphasize that they believe in paying more than minimum wage. They will have both high-level needs as well as more conventional positions, and they are willing to train.
Best of all is their commitment to the community. Elena says they plan to visually improve the current outward appearance of the building.
