There’s a new business that’s opened it’s doors out in Boulder Dam Plaza, located at 1638 Boulder City Pkwy (near Flightlinz and Chilly Jilly’z) that you’re going to want to check out – Square 1 Gallery!
But first, we want to tell you a bit of a story about these talented artists. Not only are they skilled in painting, photography and other arts, but they are true survivors – meet Kevin and Darcy Cory.
They tell us that they used to live in the Ventura County area, where they had an art gallery and studio much like they are starting here. However, the Thomas fire in 2017 burned down their gallery. So, they decided to move north, to Paradise, California. And then, unfortunately last year in 2018, the Paradise fire took their new gallery and their home. Grateful for their lives, they pondered what to do next.
But Darcy had a friend from high school who lives in Boulder City – and she said “come here” – and they did, and decided to stay because they found they loved the town!
So now, they are starting over from ‘Square 1’ and have already gotten their latest venture up and running. We loved talking to them and wandering through their gallery.
They’ve teamed up with the Boulder City Art Guild, and can create custom gifts and keepsakes for special occasions through this very specialized photography and tiling process they do, that is truly unique. (See the wedding photo collage on tile in the Photo Gallery above).
Also, every Saturday they will have what looks to be super fun Rock Painting classes from 1-4pm. (Again, see the gallery above for inspiration).
Be sure to swing by and meet these amazing people and enjoy their gallery. They are truly talented and are bringing something special to Boulder City!
