The new Holiday Inn Express at Railroad Pass is officially under construction after a special assembly yesterday to note the event. During the ceremony, members of the Boulder City and Henderson Chambers of Commerce, the Henderson Council and developer, Mr. Joe DeSimone, spoke about the positive impacts such construction would bring to the area. It was noted that both communities stand to benefit from the new hotel, with new business opportunities created by the construction, as well as bringing future business customers to the area.
The location is a popular one, given its proximity to the recreational opportunities offered by Boulder City, Henderson and the surrounding areas. Mr. DeSimone thanked the city council and Chamber of Commerce of both Boulder City and Henderson for supporting his plans to add additional hotel space to his property. It was also noted that Railroad Pass, holding Nevada Gaming License Number 4, is the longest operating casino in the state and will celebrate ninety years of operation soon. They are frequently fully occupied so the additional hotel rooms will help serve more travelers seeking rooms.
During his remarks prior to the shovel ceremony, Mr. DeSimone also noted that his company had purchased twelve acres of Clark County property near the I-11 interchange, with the idea of building another truck stop there, once the land is annexed to the City of Henderson.
Construction of the 127-unit Holiday Inn Express is expected to begin immediately.
