Well, they aren’t exactly “new” rules – but on January 1st, they will be “newly enforced” rules.
It seems a ban was imposed about a decade ago on personal watercraft that did not meet the EPA’s emission standards (of 2006) because they apparently release up to 30% of their fuel into the water. But to give everyone enough time to upgrade their watercraft, the park service gave everyone until January 1st, 2013 before they’re enforcing it.
