There’s a new NBC series, “True Stories” that is inviting any and all interested to apply, and while not a local thing at all, we thought it might be a fun idea for families to talk about and possibly audition for during quarantine! After all we DO have the winners of the Great American Light Fight right here in Boulder City – do we not? So, why NOT us, we say!
The series will be aired with the guests telling their tales on the show to Ed Helms (The Office, The Hangover) and Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat).
Apply HERE. Here’s what they are looking for:
- First-person stories, shared in a compelling, repeatable way
- Stories will be fact checked – so as the show title says, they must be true
- You can’t have sold this story to anyone before, to television or actors looking at scripts
- All ages are welcome, but ideally they are looking for men or women 25-45 in age
Those selected for the show will be paid, and when they are ready for tapping, those selected will be flown to Los Angeles! Auditions will be happening via Skype in the next few weeks, so get your applications in soon!
Here are a few words directly from the show’s producer, Andrew Scott, to give you a few ideas:
“The stories could be about disastrous holidays, cases of mistaken identity, disasters on the job, a lie that went way too far, crazy feats done for love, pregnancy story, wedding disasters, dating nightmares or anything in between really, as long as it’s true a gives a bit of a laugh. It’s that story your crazy uncle always tells at Thanksgiving and it’s so unbelievable you can’t believe it’s true…”and then this happened, and then this happened, and then this….” Maybe it is about a crazy accident that led to a marriage proposal, a wacky job interview that led to a multi-million dollar company, a Fraternity/Sorority prank gone bad, an unhappy holiday that led a newfound freedom, or a family reunion…anything really, as long as it has moments, and resolution. We want a happy ending… a lesson learned, a marriage, a chance meeting that led to a life long friendship…resolution.”
